But who exactly is our team? Why do we do what we do?
Throughout this series of our Inspired to Retire Blog, we’re here to share a bit about the incredible team we have at Capital City Financial Partners- the Minds Behind the Mission. First, let’s learn more about Allison Shaw, Partner and Director of Strategic Growth.
Allison started in January of 2011 as Josh Bradley’s (Managing Partner and Financial Advisor) first intern. Her experience in the industry began here- Allison learned about client servicing, paperwork, mergers, and just about everything in between. After completing her undergraduate degrees in Finance and Risk Management & Insurance at The University of South Carolina, Allison began her full-time career in the industry. She served our company in the Client Services and Operations Departments, and then became Capital City’s first Director of Marketing in 2018. As she began to spearhead many of the company’s events, Allison continued to develop her passion for Capital City Financial Partners and its mission. No matter what role she was in, Allison set the precedent for building meaningful relationships, serving others, and telling the story of Capital City. Soon enough, she became the Director of Strategic Growth, championing the direction of CCFP.
One of Allison’s favorite parts about working at Capital City is that it is very relationship focused- not only does she get to build meaningful relationships with employees, but she cherishes the connections she makes with our prospects and clients, too. Allison notes that she is not where she thought she was going to be- and she’s grateful for it; she has fallen into roles that she never expected because of the relationships she has leaned into.
As a successful woman in the financial industry, we asked Allison to speak about her experience:
“The first word that comes to mind when I think of women in the financial industry is opportunity. While being a woman working in this industry can be a little bit intimidating at times because, historically, it’s not the norm, I see this as an advantage rather than a disadvantage. Being a woman myself has enabled me to empower the women surrounding me with ease. Whether it be through leading our employees or helping our clients to feel more confident in their financial futures, I know that being a woman does not limit the impact I can have. In fact, I view it as a gift that provides me with a unique competitive advantage in serving and bettering those around me.”
Allison says it is so exciting to see not only how this industry grows, but how women grow in this industry, too. To the future women leaders of the financial industry, Allison’s advice is to “start now- there is so much momentum here. Take hold of the incredible opportunity lying right in front of you.”
From intern over a decade ago to now Partner and Director of Strategic Growth, Allison Shaw is a true testament to the fact that there is so much potential growth for women in the financial industry. It is an advantage and a wonderful opportunity- and nothing less.
