AVA BRUFFEY
Assistant Director of Client Service
Ava is dedicated to making certain that clients receive top-notch, personalized service so that they can feel confident in their financial goals. She joined the firm in 2019 as an intern, became a Client Service Manager in 2023, and is now our Assistant Director of Client Service.
Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Ava attended the University of South Carolina where she earned her degree in Marketing and Human Resources Management. She lives in Atlanta, GA and enjoys spending time with her friends and family, being outside with her dog Lucy, traveling to new places, and cheering on USC sports!
CHEYANNE POWELL
Senior Client Service Manager
Cheyanne Powell is dedicated to helping clients achieve their financial goals, in whatever way she can. She joined the team in 2021 as an intern and became a Client Services Coordinator in 2023. Soon after, she was promoted to her current position, Senior Client Service Manager. Cheyanne saw how important it was to plan for retirement and wanted to share the knowledge to everyone she could.
Cheyanne earned her bachelor’s degree in finance from Benedict College in Columbia, SC. A Jamaica native, with deep roots in the Bahamas, Cheyanne now resides in South Carolina. She loves spending time with family and friends, traveling, and doing community service.

We welcomed David to the team initially in 2021 as an intern. He then moved on to become our Client Service Coordinator in 2023. Having quickly mastered that role, David was promoted to his current position as Senior Client Service Manager. In this role, he continues to provide our clients with a high degree of service. He brings knowledge, passion, and empathy to the table. Needless to say, David demonstrates an unwavering commitment to helping our clients achieve their financial goals, in any way possible.
David currently attends Liberty University in pursuit of a degree in Business Administration. A South Carolina native, David spends his free time watching sports and spending time with friends and family.
JESSICA VOLKLE
Marketing and Events Manager
After graduating from the University of South Carolina in December 2023 with a degree in Marketing and a minor in Sports Media, Jessica joined CCFP as the first Client Care Coordinator in January 2024. By December of the same year, she transitioned to her current role as Marketing and Events Manager where she combines creativity and strategy to strengthen client relationships and promote the firm’s offerings.
In her role, Jessica plans and manages financial seminars for prospective clients in the Columbia region, organizes social and educational events, and oversees communication channels to ensure a seamless experience for clients. She thrives on the opportunity to create deeper relationships through meaningful interactions and enjoys creating engaging events that leave a lasting impact.
Originally from Washington state, Jessica enjoys visiting her family during holidays and summer breaks. An avid outdoor enthusiast, she loves hiking, skiing, and recently completed her first marathon in Philadelphia. Her time management, attention to detail, and passion for connecting with others are key strengths she brings to her role at CCFP.
SISSY COX
Marketing Content Coordinator
Sissy is a native to the Columbia area and came onto our team as a full-time Digital and Social Media Associate intern in May 2023. She now continues this position part-time while pursuing her B.S. in Graphic Communications at Clemson University.
Sissy’s days here at CCFP consist of handling all things Digital Marketing.
In addition to studying at Clemson, Sissy is also a member of Delta Delta Delta, which has opened many new opportunities for her and given her many valuable friendships! When she is not studying or working hard for the company, Sissy loves watching Clemson football, going to the lake, and traveling.
MEGHAN KARR

Meghan’s strong personable and communicative skills have helped her thrive here at Capital City as a Senior Client Service Associate since January 2024. As a Client Service Associate, Meghan assists the client service team to help prepare advisors for their meetings with clients, ensuring that our clients have a seamless experience while creating their retirement plans.
When she first joined the team, Meghan hoped to gain first-hand experience in professionalism and the ability to apply her knowledge from her courses to the workforce.
“I have loved being a part of such an amazing team and learning about the company and all it has to offer to clients” Meghan says.
Meghan came to UofSC all the way from New Jersey and quickly found her home in South Carolina. She is a rising junior majoring in Finance and Economics, which will help her with her post-grad goals of obtaining her MBA and CFP certifications to excel in a career in finance.
When she is not in class or working, Meghan loves spending time with her friends and family, traveling, listening to music, and hanging out with her puppy, Murray!
OWEN GRIDER
Senior Advisor Service Associate
Owen joined our team in January of 2024 and is committed to assisting our financial advisors. He has proven himself to be an integral part of the Advisor Service Team, creating and updating existing clients’ spreadsheets. You can also find Owen preparing pre-review sheets to enable the advisors to best serve their clients during meetings.
Through his role as an Advisor Service Associate, Owen says he “hopes to gain better understanding of retirement and investment planning”.
Owen is from Rock Hill, South Carolina and is a junior, majoring in Finance at the Darla Moore School of Business and minoring in Music Industry Studies. Because Owen has a passion and talent for both finance and music, he hopes to pursue a career in budgeting concerts and tours post-grad.
Outside of the office, Owen is involved with the Music Industry Club where he is the Treasurer. He loves to play and watch basketball, play the guitar, make music, and sometimes even perform on campus!
KATIE STEVENS

Joining our team in May 2024, Katie has thrived within our Client Service Department. Coming to us from Charlotte, one of the top financial hubs in the United States, she looks forward to witnessing the positive impact that our work has on others’ lives. Katie is currently in her Senior year at the University of South Carolina, where she is double majoring in Finance and Real Estate with a minor in PR/Advertising.
With her notable skills in communication and compassion, she has quickly made meaningful relationships with her peers at CCFP. “I love being part of a team where everyone supports each other’s success!”

GRACIE BERTSCHE
Senior Client Service Associate
Gracie joined our Client Service Department in May 2024 and has already proven to be a positive light within CCFP! A lifelong Gamecock fan from Greenville, she is thrilled to be a junior at UofSC, pursuing double majors in Finance and Business Management with a concentration in HR.
Her education has driven her to expand her knowledge within the financial services industry. Gracie provides strong organizational and communication skills to assist Service Managers with tasks and paperwork, ensuring our Advisors are well-prepared for their meetings.
Outside of work, Gracie enjoys volunteering at the Final Victory Rescue Center, where she stays active and spends time with dogs, her favorite animals!
AUDREY COATES
Digital Marketing Associate
Audrey Coates joined Capital City Financial Partners in August 2024 as a Client Care Coordinator and later transitioned into her role as Digital Marketing Associate, driven by her passion for the digital world of marketing.
Originally from New Hartford, Connecticut, Audrey now calls South Carolina home. She is a junior at the University of South Carolina, majoring in advertising with a minor in business administration. Active in the Advertising Club, Audrey is passionate about the creative side of marketing.
In her free time, Audrey enjoys attending USC football games, discovering new coffee shops, playing pickleball, and spending time with loved ones. She takes pride in her creativity, compassion, and organizational skills, which help her foster strong connections and make others feel valued.
MAX HOLLAND
Client Service Manager
Max is one of the newest additions to our Capital City Financial Partners family, starting his professional journey with us in March of 2024.
Born and raised around the corner in Irmo, South Carolina, Max pursued his education at Clemson University. He majored in financial management and minored in accounting, leading him to study for and earn his Series 63 license.
Max can be described as detail-oriented, intentional, and efficient. He is impassioned by this role and industry because he “loves knowing that he can make someone’s life easier.” As a Client Service Manager, Max will thrive in this position through his reputed high degree of service, wealth of knowledge, and dedication.
In his free time, Max can be found spending time with his family, cheering on the Clemson sports empire, or golfing with friends.
CAMP BRITT, CFP®

Camp is one of the newest additions to our Capital City Financial Partners family, starting his professional journey with us in February 2024.
Born and raised around the corner in Blythewood, South Carolina, Camp pursued a degree in finance at Clemson University, where he completed Clemson’s Financial Planning Program and soon after earned his Series 66, and SC state insurance license, which ultimately lead to him receiving his CFP.
After nearly 4 years in the industry, Camp has a passion for “helping clients feel confident in achieving a successful retirement and securing their financial future.” He is beyond excited to be back in the Columbia area, ready to work with new clients and understand their needs to strategically plan their dream retirement.
Outside of the office, you can find Camp at almost any Clemson sporting event and spending time outdoors with his wife and their new baby girl.
JADYN MCDONOUGH, MS, MBA
Director of HR & Development
Jadyn originally started as an intern at Capital City Financial Partners back in 2020, while pursuing bachelor’s degrees in supply chain & operations management and human resources management at the University of South Carolina. She continued her education, earning her M.B.A. with a concentration in Human Resources and M.S. in Organizational Leadership. She now serves as our Director of HR & Development.
In her day-to-day role, she handles a variety of HR responsibilities, including benefits, payroll, PTO, policies, recruiting, hiring, and training. But her focus extends beyond the basics to employee development. She works closely with the team to ensure they have the tools and support to succeed, empowering them to serve clients and the community effectively. Her role involves strategic planning, frequent discussions, and interdepartmental collaboration to maximize resources, drive synergy, and create clear career progression paths.
Outside of the office, you can often find Jadyn at the beach, reading, or doing hot yoga. She enjoys mentoring undergraduate women in leadership at the College of Charleston as well as volunteering with other organizations in her community.
ADAM SMITH, CFP®, MBA
Partner, Director of Financial Advising, Financial Advisor
Adam has always had an interest in the financial markets, but he enjoys helping people pursue their goals even more.
Before entering the financial services industry, Adam was on active duty in the Marine Corps for seven years and served another three years in the Marine Corps Reserve. After leaving active duty, he worked as a sawmill manager. In 2017, he made the shift to financial services, becoming an independent advisor at First Command Financial Services. He joined the Capital City team in 2019.
Adam is a Certified Financial Planner. He also passed the Series 66 security exam and holds a life and health insurance license in multiple states. He also has a Bachelor of Science in biology, with a chemistry minor, from Newberry College and a Master of Science in Finance.
A Lexington native, Adam enjoys spending time with his two daughters and son, playing golf, enjoying the great outdoors and cheering on Clemson sports.
ERIC OLNEY, CFP®
Director of Financial Planning
Born and raised in California, Eric is enthusiastic about his relocation to the East Coast from San Diego. He’s moved with his wife and 2-year-old child to the Greenville area to be closer to his in-laws after years of visiting them in Landrum. With a decade’s worth of experience, Eric’s earned his stripes in the financial services industry and proudly holds the Certified Financial Planner designation.
While not at the office or playing with his son, you’ll find him whipping up meals in the kitchen, discovering the charm of the Carolinas, cheering on the Greenville Drive and Swamp Rabbit at games, or perfecting his swing on the golf course.

MICHAEL J. NORRIS II

Michael Norris is one of our incredible advising partners. Starting out as an intern for the company in 2016, he was licensed and promoted to an advisor in 2018, then offered partnership in 2022.
Engrained at an early age was the importance of living within your means, joyful giving and personal contentment (in any circumstance). This was exemplified by his parents, who met in the military, married and raised six children on very limited resources.
As an Investment Adviser Representative, Michael has passed the Series 65 securities exam. In 2017, Columbia Business Monthly named him on its “Best & Brightest 35 and Under” list. He actively serves on his church finance committee and leads our firm’s charitable endeavors.
In their spare time, Michael and his beautiful wife, Dr. Lisa, enjoy marveling at her gardens, tackling home improvement projects, riding bikes, making music, competition of all kind, reading anything by John Piper, playing with his big-ole dog, Red, and spending time with their son.

Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Katherine attended the University of South Carolina, majoring in management of human resources and marketing. When she’s not in the office, she enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors with her family hiking, fishing, and visiting the lake or beach.

Allyson helps ensure Capital City Financial Partners is offering responsive, personalized service to clients at all times. She joined the firm in 2017 as an intern and became a Client Service Manager in 2020. Not long after, Allyson was promoted to Director of Client Services, now spearheading the department. She loves helping clients achieve their financial goals.
Allyson earned her degree in finance and insurance and risk management from the University of South Carolina. In her free time, Allyson enjoys being outdoors, hiking or spending time at the lake or the beach.

As a rising senior at the University of South Carolina, Sam excels in roles requiring collaboration and attention to detail. She started with CCFP’s Client Service Department in May 2023 and returned this summer as our Senior Operations Associate, assisting with data entry and analysis to improve client experience. “I love seeing firsthand the positive impacts our work has at Capital City Financial Partners.”
Sam is pursuing a degree in Accounting with a concentration in Business Analytics. On campus, she serves as the Finance Chair for UofSC’s Beta Alpha Psi chapter and is a Peer Leader for incoming freshmen. Having over 19 years of experience in the financial industry, Capital City was more than excited to welcome Maureen to the team in 2019. Throughout her time at the company, Maureen has proven herself to be a very versatile and valuable member of our team.
Not only does she work tirelessly to provide top-notch service and care to our clients, but she supports the CCFP team at great lengths. Maureen additionally spearheads our internship training and development program, prioritizing the personal and professional development of these undergraduate students. She is also a Public Notary, licensed in both North Carolina and South Carolina.
Outside of the office, you can find Maureen reading, traveling to new places, cooking, spending time with friends, and spoiling her grandchildren.
DEBRA SIGMON

Debra has joined Capital City Financial Partners as our first Client Care Associate. Debra currently resides in Old Fort, NC, and having been born and raised in Asheville, NC, she is ecstatic to spearhead CCFP’s client care experience in our Asheville Office.
Having been married for 35 years, Debra is a mother to three children and a grandmother to two. Outside of the office, she spends time on her farm with animals that she adores, hikes, travels, makes handcrafted jewelry, and loves photography. Debra is also a public notary in North Carolina.
Debra’s radiant personality helps relationships flourish between CCFP and our cherished clients. Her excellent communication skills coupled with her passion for helping others cultivates a welcoming atmosphere for potential and current clients. Independent Financial Advisor
As an Investment Adviser Representative with 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, Greg Young is able to combine his passion for helping people with his interest in investing. He has extensive knowledge of mutual funds and particularly enjoys retirement planning and fixed income investing.
Greg has passed the Series 66 security exam and has insurance licenses in South Carolina and North Carolina. He earned a Bachelor of Science in marketing from Wright State University.
Greg lives in Blythewood, South Carolina, with his wife, Kathy, and their two sons. In his spare time, he enjoys family trips to Hilton Head Island, fishing, golfing and watching his boys play sports.
NATE O’STEEN
Financial Advisor – Asheville
Part of the Client Advisor Team, Nate works one-on-one with clients and specializes in helping them optimize their Social Security income. He is a Registered Investment Advisor and is certified with the National Social Security Association (NSSA).
Nate has a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and French from Hamilton College, located in Upstate New York.
Outside of work, Nate enjoys hiking and biking in the mountains of Western North Carolina with his wife and three children.
MICHAEL COLEMAN, MBA®
Financial Advisor
Michael recently joined the firm to pursue his passion for helping people gain financial confidence and independence.
“I became a financial advisor because I wanted to make a difference in my community,” Michael says. “I grew up not seeing many people who looked like me be involved in finance or insurance. I wanted to be someone my family and those around me could count on for honest, consistent advice regarding financial literacy and estate planning.”
Michael entered the industry in 2002 before becoming a financial advisor in 2014. He graduated from the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina and has passed the Series 65 security exam.
According to Michael, the best advice he can give clients is trust the process. “I know it’s cliché, but it’s true,” he says. “Allow us to make a plan for you, and don’t make emotional decisions in areas with money that might hurt you in the long run.”
Outside of the office, Michael enjoys spending time with his wife, Dr. Candice Coleman, and their three children, watching and attending USC sporting events, reading as much as possible and traveling.
JASON W. HEMING, MBA®

A financial professional since 2007, Jason W. Heming works to help people reduce their anxiety and stress about finances. His goal is to provide solid guidance so they can feel a sense of confidence in their long-term financial goals and plans for retirement.
Jason has passed the Series 6, 7, 63 and 65 exams and is an Investment Adviser Representative. He has a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Business Administration with emphasis in finance and economics.
A native of Columbia, South Carolina, Jason now lives in Chapin. He loves spending time with his son, adventure traveling, playing trumpet with the Columbia Community Concert Band, running and working out.

Meet Lis, our dedicated Director of Business Development at Capital City Financial Partners. Lis’s journey with our company began in 2018 when she joined us as a marketing intern. After gaining valuable experiences outside of the firm, she returned to Capital City full-time in 2023. Committed to instilling the importance of retirement planning in people’s lives, Lis is deeply invested in building lasting relationships with both prospective and current clients.
A graduate of the University of South Carolina, Lis spends her fall weekends enthusiastically cheering on Gamecock football, win or lose! Lis currently resides in Greenville, SC and seizes every opportunity to travel and explore new places. Beyond her professional role, she dedicates much of her time to coaching girls’ volleyball, nurturing the growth and development of young athletes.
