MAUREEN HORAN

Assistant Director of Operations

Having over 19 years of experience in the financial industry, Capital City was more than excited to welcome Maureen to the team in 2019. Throughout her time at the company, Maureen has proven herself to be a very versatile and valuable member of our team.

Not only does she work tirelessly to provide top-notch service and care to our clients, but she supports the CCFP team at great lengths. Maureen additionally spearheads our internship training and development program, prioritizing the personal and professional development of these undergraduate students. She is also a Public Notary, licensed in both North Carolina and South Carolina.

Outside of the office, you can find Maureen reading, traveling to new places, cooking, spending time with friends, and spoiling her grandchildren.

SARENA CANNISTRACI

Client Service Associate

Sarena came to the University of South Carolina all the way from Blairstown, New Jersey. She joined our team as a Client Service Associate in January 2024. Sarena’s days here at CCFP consist of assisting the Service Managers with various tasks such as filing, contacting clients, and preparing paperwork.

“So far I have enjoyed getting to learn from experienced professionals along with meeting peers who have similar career aspirations” Sarena says.

While double majoring in Finance and Supply Chain and minoring in Advertising and Public Relations, Sarena is also involved in Greek life and the University 101 program. When she is not studying or working hard for the company, Sarena enjoys cooking, shopping, and spending time with her friends.

DAVID GERSHMAN

Client Service Associate

Joining the team in January 2024 with excitement for gaining experience in a fast-growing financial advisory and planning firm, David has thrived in his position as a Client Service Associate.

Through the various tasks and meeting prep work that David executes to serve our financial team, he has thoroughly enjoyed learning the inner workings of the firm. He hopes to continue to grow in knowledge in financial advisory as he hopes to become one in the future.

“I would love to one day be the trusted person responsible for an individual, family, or company’s financial decisions and plans” David says. We have no doubt David will be just that!

Outside of studying Finance and Economics at the University of South Carolina, David loves watching movies, going skiing, playing golf (poorly), and traveling as much as he can.

ELIZABETH MISCHEL

Client Service Associate

As a sophomore majoring in Finance and Risk Management & Insurance with a concentration in Business Analytics with strong time-management, organization, analytic, and communicative skills, Elizabeth has been an extremely useful asset to the team as a Client Service Associate.

In her day-to-day role, Elizabeth answers and assists prospects and clients answering any questions they may have with accuracy and efficiency. She also works closely with the advisors’ Service Managers to help with tasks involving the client and advisor.

Elizabeth is currently involved in Carolina Girls Who Walk, Women in Business Counsel, and The Carolina Finance and Investment Association. She also loves to spend her free time with her friends, reading, and playing tennis and volleyball. She and her family are also huge Iowa Hawkeye fans!

TAYLOR PANNEL

Client Service Associate

Taylor, from Alpharetta, Georgia, has played an important role as a Client Service Associate here at Capital City since January 2024. As a current student studying Finance and Operations with a concentration in Sustainability at The University of South Carolina, Taylor joined the team hoping to gain a deeper understanding of the financial world.

As a Client Service Associate, Taylor handles the processing of different documents for clients and assists the Service Managers with various tasks.

“My favorite part of my role so far has been my experiences with working with clients as well as gaining an in-depth look into how financial planning works” Taylor says.

You can find Taylor at almost every Gamecock sporting event when he is not in the office! Taylor is also involved with SOU, a professional business fraternity at the University of South Carolina.

OWEN GRIDER

Advisor Service Associate

Owen joined our team in January of 2024 and is committed to assisting our financial advisors. He has proven himself to be an integral part of the advisory team, creating and updating existing clients’ spreadsheets. You can also find Owen preparing pre-review sheets to enable the advisors to best serve their clients during meetings.

Through his role as an Advisor Service Associate, Owen says he “hopes to gain better understanding of retirement and investment planning”.

Owen is from Rock Hill, South Carolina and is a junior, majoring in Finance at the Darla Moore School of Business and minoring in Music Industry Studies. Because Owen has a passion and talent for both finance and music, he hopes to pursue a career in budgeting concerts and tours post-grad.

Outside of the office, Owen is involved with the Music Industry Club where he is the Treasurer. He loves to play and watch basketball, play the guitar, make music, and sometimes even perform on campus!

MEGHAN KARR

Advisor Service Associate

Meghan’s strong personable and communicative skills have helped her thrive here at Capital City as a Client Service Associate since January 2024.

As an Advisor Service Associate, Meghan assists the client service team to help prepare advisors for their meetings with clients, ensuring that our clients have a seamless experience while creating their retirement plans.

When she first joined the team, Meghan hoped to gain first-hand experience in professionalism and the ability to apply her knowledge from her courses to the workforce.

“I have loved being a part of such an amazing team and learning about the company and all it has to offer to clients” Meghan says.

Meghan came to UofSC all the way from New Jersey and quickly found her home in South Carolina. She is a sophomore majoring in Finance and Economics, which will help her with her post-grad goals of obtaining her MBA and CFP certifications to excel in a career in finance.

When she is not in class or working, Meghan loves spending time with her friends and family, traveling, listening to music, and hanging out with her puppy, Murray!

ADA STIGLBAUER

Marketing and Events Associate

Ada has played an important role on the marketing team here at Capital City since August 2023. As a junior studying Marketing and Management at The University of South Carolina, Ada joined the team hoping to gain a well-rounded perspective of marketing as well as valuable insight into the financial industry.

In her day-to-day role, Ada spearheads strategic marketing initiatives, engages with prospective clients, coordinates our events, and much more. Because of her strong interpersonal and communication skills, Ada loves interacting with prospects and clients as well as hosting events!

When out of the office, Ada enjoys her leadership position with Young Life at Spring Valley High School, running, and traveling!

KRISTINA ESPINET

Marketing and Events Associate

Kristina has been a valuable employee with Capital City since November 2023. Coming all the way from a small town in northwest Connecticut, Kristina chose to attend the University of South Carolina to pursue her strong passions for both marketing and Spanish. As a Marketing major and a Spanish minor, Kristina is also involved in Women in Business Council, Spanish club, and Latin American Student Organization.

Her knowledge and talent for marketing has spilled over into her role here as a Marketing and Events Associate. Kristina conducts prospective client communications via phone and email, scheduling meetings and making a meaningful first impression as she plans and prepares for our many different events.

While continuing her position, Kristina “is hoping to gain further professional experience, learning both the Marketing Events and Digital Marketing aspects to the company”.

Outside of her school career, her internship, and her involvement in many organizations, Kristina enjoys listening to music, spending time with her friends, and playing tennis!

SOPHIA MCKOWEN

Digital and Social Media Associate

Sophia joined the team back in September of 2023 as a Digital and Social Media Associate. As a junior at The University of South Carolina pursuing a B.A in Advertising, she is passionate about all things media related, content creation, and is an aspiring creative in the world of advertising.

As a Digital and Social Media Associate, Sophia brainstorms, plans, and creates content, manages our social media platforms, develops monthly newsletters, and much more.

“My favorite part of my role here is getting to be creative in creating content for our socials,” Sophia says.

Through this internship, she hopes to gain knowledge in cultivating brand identity and forming valuable relationships with co-workers, among many other things.

Outside of the office, Sophia devotes a lot of time in ministry as a Young Life leader at Irmo High School. She also loves any outdoor activities, spending time with friends and family, and traveling.

SISSY COX

Digital and Social Media Associate

Sissy is a native to the Columbia area and came onto our team as a full-time Digital and Social Media Associate intern in May 2023. She now continues this position part-time while pursuing her B.S. in Graphic Communications at Clemson University.

Sissy’s days here at CCFP consist of editing videos, creating and posting content, cultivating TV scripts, and researching new ideas to implement to further develop the company.

“I feel like I’ve already gained so much from working at CCFP and I’ve loved learning how to use my major in the professional world,” Sissy says.

In addition to studying at Clemson, Sissy is also a member of Delta Delta Delta, which has opened many new opportunities for her and given her many valuable friendships! When she is not studying or working hard for the company, Sissy loves watching Clemson football, going to the lake, and traveling.

DEBRA SIGMON

Client Care Associate

Debra has joined Capital City Financial Partners as our first Client Care Associate. Debra currently resides in Old Fort, NC, and having been born and raised in Asheville, NC, she is ecstatic to spearhead CCFP’s client care experience in our Asheville Office.

Having been married for 35 years, Debra is a mother to three children and a grandmother to two. Outside of the office, she spends time on her farm with animals that she adores, hikes, travels, makes handcrafted jewelry, and loves photography. Debra is also a public notary in North Carolina.

Debra’s radiant personality helps relationships flourish between CCFP and our cherished clients. Her excellent communication skills coupled with her passion for helping others cultivates a welcoming atmosphere for potential and current clients. JADYN MCDONOUGH, MS®, MBA®

Digital Marketing Manager

Jadyn originally started as an intern at Capital City Financial Partners back in 2020, while pursuing bachelor’s degrees in supply chain & operations management and human resources management at the University of South Carolina. She continued her education, earning her M.B.A. with a concentration in Human Resources and M.S. in Organizational Leadership. She now serves as our Digital Marketing Manager.

In her day-to-day roles, Jadyn works with social media, content creation, our website, branding, and the list goes on! Jadyn’s creativity, critical thinking, and attention to detail champions our digital marketing efforts.

Part of why she loves Capital City Financial Partners is because of the mission it serves. “Getting to see firsthand the life-changing impact that CCFP has on its clients is so incredible. That combined with having the opportunity to communicate this story of service to others is empowering, fulfilling, and simply a gift!”

Outside of the office, you can often find Jadyn at the beach, reading, or doing hot yoga. She enjoys mentoring undergraduate women in leadership at the College of Charleston as well as volunteering with other organizations in her community.

JESSICA VOLKLE

Client Care Coordinator

Born and raised in Washington state, Jessica quickly found her second home in the south at the University of South Carolina, where she recently graduated with a marketing degree. She loves all things outdoors, especially skiing, hiking, and running.

She has continued her professional development as the first Client Care Coordinator at Capital City Financial Partners in January 2024. Jessica’s engaging and enthusiastic personality has helped relationships flourish between CCFP and our cherished clients. Her goals and passions are “to always put a smile on clients’ faces and ensure they know how valued they are.”

MAX HOLLAND

Client Service Manager

Max is one of the newest additions to our Capital City Financial Partners family, starting his professional journey with us in March of 2024.

Born and raised around the corner in Irmo, South Carolina, Max pursued his education at Clemson University. He majored in financial management and minored in accounting, leading him to study for and earn his Series 7 and Series 63 licensures.

Max can be described as detail-oriented, intentional, and efficient. He is impassioned by this role and industry because he “loves knowing that he can make someone’s life easier.” As a Client Service Manager, Max will thrive in this position through his reputed high degree of service, wealth of knowledge, and dedication.

In his free time, Max can be found spending time with his family, cheering on the Clemson sports empire, or golfing with friends.

DAVID POLSON

Client Services Coordinator

David is committed to helping our clients achieve their financial goals, in any way possible.

He joined the team as an intern in 2021. He then moved on to become our Client Services Coordinator in 2023. David currently attends Liberty University in pursuit of a degree in Business Administration. A South Carolina native, David spends his free time watching sports and spending time with friends and family.

CHEYANNE POWELL

Client Service Manager

Cheyanne Powell is dedicated to helping clients achieve their financial goals, in whatever way she can. She joined the team in 2021 as an intern and became a Client Services Coordinator in 2023. Cheyanne saw how important it was to plan for retirement and wanted to share the knowledge to everyone she could. Cheyanne earned her bachelor’s degree in finance from Benedict College in Columbia, SC. A Jamaica native, with deep roots in the Bahamas, Cheyanne now resides in South Carolina. She loves spending time with family and friends, traveling, and doing community service.

AVA BRUFFEY

Client Service Manager

Ava is dedicated to making certain that clients receive top-notch, personalized service so that they can feel confident in their financial goals. She joined the firm in 2019 as an intern and became a Client Services Manager in 2023. Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Ava attended the University of South Carolina where she earned her degree in Marketing and Human Resources Management. She lives in Atlanta, GA and enjoys spending time with her friends and family, being outside with her dog Lucy, traveling to new places, and cheering on USC sports!

GREG YOUNG

Independent Financial Advisor

As an Investment Adviser Representative with 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, Greg Young is able to combine his passion for helping people with his interest in investing. He has extensive knowledge of mutual funds and particularly enjoys retirement planning and fixed income investing.

Greg has passed the Series 66 security exam and has insurance licenses in South Carolina and North Carolina. He earned a Bachelor of Science in marketing from Wright State University.

Greg lives in Blythewood, South Carolina, with his wife, Kathy, and their two sons. In his spare time, he enjoys family trips to Hilton Head Island, fishing, golfing and watching his boys play sports.

EVERETT FRANKS

Everett discovered his true calling by intertwining his passion for helping people with his keen interest in finance, leading him to the perfect crossroads as a financial advisor.

As a proud member of the CCFP family, Everett is on a mission to provide individuals and families with peace of mind throughout the various phases of their lives. His commitment to guiding people through our meticulous planning process reflects his dedication to their financial well-being.

Everett’s journey in the financial services industry spans five years, during which he has earned both his Series 7 and Series 66 licenses, honed his financial expertise, and built lasting relationships.

As a native of Lafayette, LA, Everett graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance with a minor in Economics. He’s currently pursuing his MBA with a focus in Finance, underscoring his dedication to staying engaged with industry advancements.

Beyond the walls of CCFP, Everett finds joy in exploring hiking trails, strumming on his guitar, or crafting delicious Cajun recipes in the kitchen. Accompanied by his loyal golden retriever Finley, he and his fiancée Morgan frequently explore the scenic riverwalks of Columbia, SC, creating cherished moments outside the world of finance.

CAMP BRITT, CFP®

Financial Advisor

Camp is one of the newest additions to our Capital City Financial Partners family, starting his professional journey with us in February 2024.

Born and raised around the corner in Blythewood, South Carolina, Camp pursued a degree in finance at Clemson University, where he completed Clemson’s Financial Planning Program and soon after earned his Series 7, Series 66, and SC state insurance license, which ultimately lead to him receiving his CFP.

After nearly 4 years in the industry, Camp has a passion for “helping clients feel confident in achieving a successful retirement and securing their financial future.” He is beyond excited to be back in the Columbia area, ready to work with new clients and understand their needs to strategically plan their dream retirement.

Outside of the office, you can find Camp at almost any Clemson sporting event and spending time outdoors with his wife.

ERIC ONLEY, CFP®

Financial Planning Manager

Born and raised in California, Eric is enthusiastic about his relocation to the East Coast from San Diego. He’s moved with his wife and 2-year-old child to the Greenville area to be closer to his in-laws after years of visiting them in Landrum. With a decade’s worth of experience, Eric’s earned his stripes in the financial services industry and proudly holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation. While not at the office or playing with his son, you’ll find him whipping up meals in the kitchen, discovering the charm of the Carolinas, cheering on the Greenville Drive and Swamp Rabbit at games, or perfecting his swing on the golf course.

NATE O’STEEN

Financial Advisor – Asheville

Part of the Client Advisor Team, Nate works one-on-one with clients and specializes in helping them optimize their Social Security income. He is a Registered Investment Advisor and is certified with the National Social Security Association (NSSA).

Nate has a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and French from Hamilton College, located in Upstate New York.

Outside of work, Nate enjoys hiking and biking in the mountains of Western North Carolina with his wife and three children.

ALEX SUGGS

Financial Advisor

Alex Suggs is committed to helping clients find their path to a confident financial future.

After considering a career in teaching, Alex decided to put those skills to use in another way — helping those in or near retirement to navigate the many options available to help them achieve their goals.

He is passionate about encouraging younger people to begin saving early.

An Investment Adviser Representative, Alex has passed the Series 65 security exam. He earned a BSBA in finance from the University of South Carolina.

In his free time, Alex enjoys attending South Carolina Gamecocks sporting events, hanging out with friends and family, and going to the beach and lake.

MICHAEL COLEMAN, MBA®

Financial Advisor

Michael recently joined the firm to pursue his passion for helping people gain financial confidence and independence.

“I became a financial advisor because I wanted to make a difference in my community,” Michael says. “I grew up not seeing many people who looked like me be involved in finance or insurance. I wanted to be someone my family and those around me could count on for honest, consistent advice regarding financial literacy and estate planning.”

Michael entered the industry in 2002 before becoming a financial advisor in 2014. He graduated from the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina and has passed the Series 65 security exam.

According to Michael, the best advice he can give clients is trust the process. “I know it’s cliché, but it’s true,” he says. “Allow us to make a plan for you, and don’t make emotional decisions in areas with money that might hurt you in the long run.”

Outside of the office, Michael enjoys spending time with his wife, Dr. Candice Coleman, and their three children, watching and attending USC sporting events, reading as much as possible and traveling.

JASON W. HEMING, MBA®

Partner, Financial Advisor

A financial professional since 2007, Jason W. Heming works to help people reduce their anxiety and stress about finances. His goal is to provide solid guidance so they can feel a sense of confidence in their long-term financial goals and plans for retirement.

Jason has passed the Series 6, 7, 63 and 65 exams and is an Investment Adviser Representative. He has a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Business Administration with emphasis in finance and economics.

A native of Columbia, South Carolina, Jason now lives in Chapin. He loves spending time with his son, adventure traveling, playing trumpet with the Columbia Community Concert Band, running and working out.

ADAM SMITH, CFP®

Partner, Financial Advisor

Adam has always had an interest in the financial markets, but he enjoys helping people pursue their goals even more.

Before entering the financial services industry, Adam was on active duty in the Marine Corps for seven years and served another three years in the Marine Corps Reserve. After leaving active duty, he worked as a sawmill manager. In 2017, he made the shift to financial services, becoming an independent advisor at First Command Financial Services. He joined the Capital City team in 2019.

Adam is a Certified Financial Planner™. He also passed the Series 66 security exam and holds a life and health insurance license in multiple states. He also has a Bachelor of Science in biology, with a chemistry minor, from Newberry College and a Master of Science in Finance.

A Lexington native, Adam enjoys spending time with his two daughters and son, playing golf, enjoying the great outdoors and cheering on Clemson sports.

MICHAEL J. NORRIS II

Partner, Financial Advisor

Michael Norris is our youngest advising partner. Starting out as an intern for the company in 2016, he was licensed and promoted to an advisor in 2018, then offered partnership in 2022.
Engrained at an early age was the importance of living within your means, joyful giving and personal contentment (in any circumstance). This was exemplified by his parents, who met in the military, married and raised six children on very limited resources.
As an Investment Adviser Representative, Michael has passed the Series 65 securities exam. In 2017, Columbia Business Monthly named him on its “Best & Brightest 35 and Under” list. He actively serves on his church finance committee and leads our firm’s charitable endeavors.
In their spare time, Michael and his beautiful wife, Dr. Lisa, enjoy marveling at her gardens, tackling home improvement projects, riding bikes, making music, competition of all kind, reading anything by John Piper and playing with his big-ole dog, Red.

LIS MAGGIO

Director of Business Development

Meet Lis, our dedicated Director of Business Development at Capital City Financial Partners. Lis’s journey with our company began in 2018 when she joined us as a marketing intern. After gaining valuable experiences outside of the firm, she returned to Capital City full-time in 2023. Committed to instilling the importance of retirement planning in people’s lives, Lis is deeply invested in building lasting relationships with both prospective and current clients.

A graduate of the University of South Carolina, Lis spends her fall weekends enthusiastically cheering on Gamecock football, win or lose! Lis currently resides in Greenville, SC and seizes every opportunity to travel and explore new places. Beyond her professional role, she dedicates much of her time to coaching girls’ volleyball, nurturing the growth and development of young athletes.

ALLYSON CONWAY

Client Services Manager

Allyson helps ensure Capital City Financial Partners is offering responsive, personalized service to clients at all times. She joined the firm in 2017 as an intern and became client services manager in 2020. She loves helping clients achieve their financial goals.

Allyson earned her degree in finance and insurance and risk management from the University of South Carolina. In her free time, Allyson enjoys being outdoors, hiking or spending time at the lake or the beach.

ALLISON SHAW

Partner, Director of Strategic Growth

Allison Shaw works to expand Capital City Financial Partners’ outreach so the firm can positively impact the lives of even more families in the communities they serve and inform them about how important it is to have a financial plan for retirement.

Allison double majored in Finance and Insurance & Risk Management at the University of South Carolina. She lives in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, with her husband, Chris, their daughters, Sutton and Blakely, and their two labs. In her spare time, she likes entertaining friends and family, being actively involved in her church community, running, cooking, baking, and watching Gamecock football.
